The following selected information is extracted from his obituary. Survivor(s): Grace MacSorley.5
He died on 24 February 1976 in Carlton Private Hospital, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, at age 80 according to BC Death Registration 76-09-003677. He was a retired steam engineer from a foundry.3 The informant on his death registration was his wife, A. Grace MacSorley.3 Charles Willoughby MacSorley was buried on 27 February 1976 in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.3

Asquith and District Honour Roll:
     "McSorley (sic) Charlie".
Other comments:
Charles MacSorley was conscripted late in the war and was sent to England. Before he could be deplyed to France, the war ended. He returned to Asquith, and in 1924 he moved to British Columbia. This may also be the year he married.6
Canadian Military Service - WWI :
Charles Willoughby MacSorley of R.R.#1, Asquith was conscripted on 6 June 1918 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, joining the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment in the 83rd draft. He was an unmarried farmer with no previous military experience. He had had his medical examination in Saskatoon 20 Oct 1917. He was described as being 5' 8" with a fresh complexion, hazel eyes and dark hair. On his conscription papers he listed his next-of-kin as his father, John MacSorley of R.R.#1, Asquith. He was assigned regimental number 277083. Note that the LAC index incorrectly gives his serial number as 2770883, which may cause younot to find his service file.1
On 28 July 1918 in Montréal, Québec, Canada, his unit embarked on "H.M.T. Cassandra" arriving at Liverpool, England on 15 Aug 1918.1
On 18 July 1919 he embarked on the "H.M.T.S. Winifredian". Note that on one payroll record it is noted he embarked for Canada on 28 Jul 1919 and , arrived in Canada on 05 Aug 1919. However, he was discharged in Regina on the 3rd, so this appears to be inccorrect.7 Pte. Charles Willoughby MacSorley ended military service as part of general demobilization on 3 August 1919 in Regina, Saskatchewan,
End of Military Service section.1

In the obituary of Thomas MacSorley who died 1 December 1955, his brother, Charles MacSorley of New Westminster, BC, was listed as a survivor.8
In the obituary of Aylmer MacSorley who died 6 September 1969, his brother, Charles MacSorley of Burnaby, was listed as a survivor.9
