     His name was recorded as Milton Markus on his birth registration.2 His name was also recorded as Wilfred Markus.3
     Wilford Markus appeared in the 1911 Canadian Census of Rankin, Wilberforce Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario in the household of his mother Mrs. Martin Markus.1
     In the obituary of Louis Martin Markus who died 9 June 1968, his brother, Wilfred Markus, of Waltham, Quebec, was listed as a survivor.4
     The following information is from my personal research:
There is an OCFA entry for Wilfred in the Haley Station, Union cemetery, but it is not included in the Gravemarker Gallery.5

     Lornie Marcus appeared on the 1931 Canadian Census of Alice Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 1 June 1931, described as a carpenter in the house industry. Emma Markus was included in his household as a lodger, and His nephew, an unknown person was included in their household. They were lodgers in the Wilfrid Layman household.8 Lornie Markus, of Pembroke, was the informant on the death registration of his brother-in-law, Wesley Lloyd Seigel, who died on 1 January 1945.9
     The following biographical information is from my (Rick Moffat's) personal knowledge or recollections, 1952:
Their grandson Kenneth Barker or perhaps Kenneth Barker Marcus (1951-1952) is buried with them. His mother may have been Carolina, who married William G Barker. They are buried in the same cemetery.10,11

     In the obituary of Louis Martin Markus who died 9 June 1968, his brother, Lornie Markus, of Pembroke, was listed as a survivor.12
     In the obituary of Carolina Anna Barker who died 10 February 2022, her parents, Lorne Markus and Emma Roesler were listed or implied as predeceased.13

     Rev. M. J. Michael officiated at the marriage this afternoon in the vestry of St. Paul's Lutheran church of Dorothy, daughter of Mrs. Frank Lemke, to Walter Markus. Ottawa, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Markus of Pembroke.
     Mr. and Mrs. E. Holtz attended the bride and groom. The bride wore a white silk eyelet dress and a white hat. Her shoulder bouquet was of red roses.
     The couple left on a short motor trip following the reception at the home of the bride's mother. Going away, Mrs. Markus travelled in a blue figured crepe dress and a while hat. They will reside in Ottawa.5

     Emma Roesler appeared in the 1911 Canadian Census of North Algona Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario in the household of her parents, Frank and Anna Roesler.3

     The following biographical information is from my (Rick Moffat's) personal knowledge or recollections, 1952:
Their grandson Kenneth Barker or perhaps Kenneth Barker Marcus (1951-1952) is buried with them. His mother may have been Carolina, who married William G Barker. They are buried in the same cemetery.11,12

     In the obituary of Walter Elmer Markus who died 23 February 1988, his sister-in-law, Emma Markus, of Pembroke, was listed as a survivor.9
     In the obituary of Carolina Anna Barker who died 10 February 2022, her parents, Lorne Markus and Emma Roesler were listed or implied as predeceased.13

A quiet and charming autumn house wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Markus, 403 Murray street, Pembroke, Wednesday evening, September 28, at 8.30. when Miss Edith Meron Markus became the bride of Mr. A. John Butt, of Emsdale, Ont., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Butt. of Depot Harbor. Rev. R. H. Waterman officiate . The marriage took place under an arch of autumn flowers which were mingled with bright autumn flowers. T

he bride was given in marriage by her father and was sweet in a poudre blue georgette. made with slashed tunic effect over beige, and wore grey shoes and hose. Her shower bouquet was of American Beauty roses and lily-of-the-valley. Mrs. Fred Crabtree, "Glenview," Todmorden, England. was the only attendant and was in a Mediterranean crepe romain. with diamante trimming and wore a corsage of ophelia roses. Mr. Bertram Markus, of Montreal. brother of the bride, was best man. Lohengrin's Wedding March was played by Miss Anna Meits.

A buffet supper was served to the guests and Mr. and Mrs. Butt left on the midnight train for Montreal. Toronto and Niagara, and will take up residence in Emsdale. Travelling the bride wore a navy blue velour coat, with kolinsky fur trimming and a small model hat to match.

Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Butt, Depot Harbor; Mr. Frank Butt, of Chicago. and Mrs. J. Craig, sister of the groom, of Chicago.4

She died after an illness extending over a period at two years. For the past 14 months she had been at her home here.
     Mrs Kelly was born in Pembroke and educated at the local schools She was married in September, 1926, and for five years resided in Montreal.
     Besides her husband she leaves two young children, Phyllis and John. Besides her parents she is survived also by two brothers, and four sisters. E. J. and B. W. Markus, Montreal; Mrs. W. M. R. Hamilton, Ottawa; Mrs. A. J. Butt, Huntsville. and Viola and Helen, at home.
     Mrs. Kelly had a large number of warm friends in town. among Whom her death will cause much regret.
     The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon from her parent's home to the United Church cemetery. Rev. R. H. Waterman. rector of Holy Trinity church will officiate.8

Panke was naturalized on 15 September 1933 at Cleveland, Ohio, USA, according to his wife's naturalization petition in 1939.9
     Alex C. and Essmerelda Panke appeared on the 1940 U.S. Federal Census of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, enumerated 15 April 1940, described as a Foreman in a company making Dental Instruments. Their children: Harold E. and Charles O., were listed as living with them. His brother-in-law, Arthur V. Lisk, was listed as a Tool Maker Apprentice in Dental Instruments. He had been living in Golden Lake, Ontario, Canada in 1935. The rest of the household was living in the same place they had lived in in 1935. Both Alex and Essmerelda were naturalized citizens.8

     Mr. Panke, who came to Pembroke when a young man, was formerly a contractor and is now a stonemason and bricklayer. He was born 74 years ago in Wilberforce township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Panke. Mrs. Panke is an active worker in the Red Cross Society. She is the former Minnie Markus, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Markus, and was born at Golden Lake 67 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Panke, who were married in Pembroke in 1892, are members of Zion Evangelical Church and take a prominent part in its activities.
     They have four daughters and three sons, Mrs. G. L. Plummer, Ottawa; Mrs. Lloyd Bender, San Diego, Cal; Mrs. George O'Dacre and Mrs. E. C. Hore, Pembroke; H. W. Panke, Paterson, N.J; A. C. Panke, Cleveland, Ohio, and F. W. Panke, Cincinnati, Ohio, and 10 grandchildren.
     Mr. Panke has four brothers, William Panke, Sudbury; Herman and John Panke, Pembroke, and Gustave Panke, Wilberforce, and Mrs. Panke has one brother, William J, Markus. They expect Mrs. Plummer and Mrs. H. W. Panke, and Mr. and Mrs. F. W. will be present.13
