The following newspaper article appeared in the Bowmanville, Ontario Canadian Statesman 11 September 1952 :
Morton - Moffat
Baskets of white gladioli formed the background for a pretty wedding in Orono United Church on Friday evening, August 29 when Patsy May Moffat, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Moffat, Orono, became the bride of John Power Morton, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart S. Morton of Bowmanville. The ceremony was performed by Rev. John Kitchen, Orono. Mrs. Phyllis Challis Barrett played the wedding music and Mrs. Hayden Lightle, cousin of the groom, sang "Always" and "I'll Walk Beside You."

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a strapless gown of white French lace and nylon net over satin with short sleeved lace jacket and mittens to match. Her shoulder length veil was of nylon tulle edged with silk embroidery. Her bouquet was in the form of a wedding ring made up of orchid, gladinia and stephanotis. The bride had as her attendant, Mrs. Joyce Gray, gowned in nile green French lace and nylon net over taffeta with lace cape and mittens to match. She carried a nosegay of pink rosebuds and baby white mums. Little Gail Ann Robbins, cousin of the bride, acted as flower girl in pale pink organdy reaching to the floor and carried a nosegay of pink rosebuds and white mums.

The groom was attended by Arthur McLaren, Mr. Hayden Lightle, cousin of the groom, and Mr. Harold Moffat, brother of the bride, acted as ushers.

Following the wedding ceremony a reception was held in the church basement. The bride's mother received, wearing powder blue crepe trimmed with lace and black accessories and was assisted by the groom's mother who wore navy blue crepe with navy accessories. Both wore corsages of pink rose buds.

Following the reception the couple left among showers of confetti for a short honeymoon in U.S.A. For travelling the bride wore a beige suit with brown accessories. On their return, they will reside on the groom's farm, R.R. 2., Bowmanville.5
