Avondale
...We have to announce the death of the late Mrs. William Russell. She was taken sick about ten days ago and a doctor called in and she was doing nicely when she took a relapse on Tuesday evening, the 6th of November, and passed away. Everything was done to try and save her life, but her time had come. Mrs. Russell was in her 32nd year. She was born in Clifford. Ont., and moved with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. McGregor to Emerson. Manitoba, where they resided for some time. They again moved to Hannah, N.D.. here she met and married Mr. Russell, and they made made their home in Langdon. N.D., until they moved to Avondale, some four years ago. Mrs. Russell was one of the many noble women who have led a pioneer life from infancy. She was always the first on hand to help a neighbor in case of sickness or trouble of any kind and a kind and loving wife and mother, with a smile and a pleasant word for everybody. Her loss will be keenly felt, both in her family and in this community. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn her loss. The funeral took place on 9th, from her late home to the new cemetery. Mr. McCallum preached the funeral sermon on Sunday afternoon.1

In the obituary of Agnes Ballantyne who died 6 November 1929, her mother, Mrs. W. Russell was listed as predeceased.12
