The witnesses were the same for all three marriages on this page, on different dates. One of them had the same surname as the person performing the marraige.
According to the 1910 census, which was taken before this marriage, they had been married for2 years. It was his first marriage and her second marriage.2,3 Viola Langdale and Carl Schultz Beck were divorced between 1914 and 1920.15 Viola married William Isaiah Chew on 10 September 1928 at Columbia County, Arkansas, USA.4,6,16,7,8

The following article appeared in the Cincinnati, Ohio Cincinnati Commercial Tribune, 25 March 1906 :
Society
...The marriage of Miss Viola, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Langdale, to Mr. William G. Braffelt, of Park avenue, Walnut Hills, was celebrated at noon yesterday at the home of the bride's parents in the Alexandria (sic), Walnut Hills. It was a quiet home affair, with only the immediate families and a few friends present. The bride was gowned in white chiffon mull. Little Edith Langdale preceded the bride, carrying her bouquet of Bride roses, which she presented to her when they reached the bow window where the ceremony was performed. The floral decorations were carried out in green and white, with carnations. smilax and potted plants. After the ceremony there was a wedding breakfast. Mrs. Langdale, the bride's mother, wore white silk. Mrs. Braffelt, the bridegroom's mother, wore crepe de chene. Mr. and Mrs. Braffelt will leave tomorrow for a short honeymoon trip.13
She, the groom's sister, played the wedding march at the wedding of Dr. Rupert Hill Langdale and Mayme Willis on 21 October 1909 at Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, USA.20
Carl S. and Viola Beck appeared on the 1910 U.S. Federal Census of Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, enumerated 15 April 1910, described as a Shoe Cutter in a factory. The census shows they were married for 2 years, and Viola was the mother of one living child that was not included in this enumeration. It was his first marriage and her second marriage. So, explain to me their actual marriage several months later in Canada.21
The following article appeared in the Cincinnati, Ohio The Cincinnati Enquirer, 5 December 1915 :
Woman Is Accused of Forgeries
Prisoner, 'Tis Said, Admits Signing Father's Name to Ten Checks - Man Also Held
A woman, dressed stylishly and wearing jewelry, who says she is Mrs. Viola Johnson, 33 years old, was taken to detective headquarters yesterday by Detectives Callahan and William Mahan to be questioned in regard to two charges of forgery.
     E. Earhart, manager of a garage at 125 East Seventh street, had sworn to a warrant for Mrs. Johnson's arrest.
Shortly before she was taken into custody a man who registered as Joseph Schmatz, 31 years old, chauffeur, was arrested on two charges of securing money under false pretenses. Earhart also swore to a warrant for Schmalz's arrest.
It is alleged that Mrs. Johnson forged her father's name to two checks which amounted to $10.65. Earhart, a friend of Schmalz, is said to have honored them. They were made payable at the First National Bank. Detective Sergeant Moriarity says the woman admitted that she made the cheques payable to herself, and requested Schmalz to cash them.
Detectives say Schmalz admitted that he cashed the checks. The woman confessed, it is said, that she had forged her father's name to 10 checks. Schmalz admitted, according to detectives, that he cashed eight of them. Her father, R. H. Langdale, Loveland, Ohio, did not sanction the transactions, it is said.
The woman said that she had been married three times and divorced twice. She stated that her husband's name is Frank Johnson and that he is a stationary engineer. Mrs. Johnson added that she does not live with her husband.
"Dr. Charles Langdale, receiving physician at the General Hospital, and Dr. Rupert Langdale, Northside dentist, are my brothers." the woman told detectives.
"Schmalz was a good man when I met him and I don't blame him for what has happened. I have wronged no one but my father. I will take the consequences. My father will get me out of trouble. I am a graduate of the Conservatory of Music and can tickle the keys as well as the next."
When asked by detectives if she had been arrested before the woman said: "I was brought here on a charge of drunkenness."
Detectives say other persons on whom Schmalz is alleged to have passed checks will prosecute. Both the accused woman and man registered as living at 912 Vine street.
Note by Rick Moffat: although this article reports she was married 3 times and divorced twice, events above seem to indicate she was married 4 times and probably divorced 3 times...all at the age of 31.22

The following information is from my personal research, January 1920:
In the 1920 US census, Carl was enumerated as a single (unmarried) cutter in a shoe factory, lodging in a household with several other shoe cutters. This may confirm that Viola and Carl had divorced.23

In the obituary of Robert H. Langdale who died 10 July 1924, his daughter, Viola Cross of Sibley, Louisiana, was listed as a survivor.24
William I. and Viola L. Chew appeared on the 1930 U.S. Federal Census of Wolf Twp., Seminole County, Oklahoma, enumerated 22 April 1930, described as a cable driller in the oil fields. Their children: James D, were listed as living with them.6
William and Chew appeared on the 1940 U.S. Federal Census of Centralia, Clinton County, Illinois, enumerated 10 April 1940, described as a driller in the petroleum industry. Their son, James Denton, was listed as living with them. Note that no given name is listed for his wife.7
In the obituary of Dr. Rupert H. Langdale who died 25 March 1945, his sister, Viola Chew of Clinton, Tennessee, was listed as a survivor.25
William and Viola Langdale appeared on the 1950 U.S. Federal Census of Anderson County, Tennessee, enumerated 3 April 1950, described as a rigger in construction.8
See the footnotes below for a link to her obituary that appeared in the newspaper The Knoxville News-Sentinel published in Knoxville, Tennessee, 24 January 1956.17
The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
The 1910 census shows that Viola was the mother of one living child. When she remarried in 1906, "Little Edith Langdale" preceded the bride during the wedding. I presumed that Edith was the child of Viola and her first husband, Albert Rust. After Albert and Viola divorced and she reverted to her maiden name, she may have also changed Edith's surname.
The 1904 news item above clarifies the relationship of 4 generations in one short report of a visit.26
