ARTEMUS WARD's Regiment of militia in the Counties of Middlesex & Worcester, Massachusetts on 1 July 1776. JOSEPH during the Revolutionary War contributed cash to the cause giving 39-18-0. 1777.

3 Joseph Mixer, Jr., left a will dated 10 June 1782. Joseph MIXER's Last will & testament is dated 10 June 1782 and was proved 2 Sept. 1794. He bequeathed his wordily goods "......to Elizabeth my well-beloved wife......all the personal estate which she was possessed of when I married her & thirteen pounds lawful money to be paid in four years after my decease by my son........"given her in lieu of her right of dower in my estate"......."unto my son JOSEPH MIXER..one-half of my wearing apparel..."unto my son TIMOTHY MIXER....sum of five shillings........unto my daughter MARY SIMONS...to be paid her by my son ASA in one year after my decease, the sum of five shillings.......unto my daughter ABIGAIL PRATT.....five shillings.....my daughter LYDIA PRATT......five shillings........unto my daughter ANN HOWARD one weaver's loom that is now in her possession......unto my son ASA MIXER....one half of my wearing apparel, all of my husbandry tools & all my household furniture that I had died seized of that is not herein otherwise disposed of provided he pay all the legacies and to pay all my debts as are due and owing by me that were contracted by me before my intermarriage with my present wife.....I also give unto my said son ASA upon the above conditions the whole of a bond which he gave me bearing______dates with these presents for one hundred pounds conditioned for the payment of fifty pounds silver money with interest in one year from the date of said bond. Major MIXER appointed his "trusty and well-beloved friend PAUL NEWTON of Northborough" as sole executor of the estate. NEWTON later declined this trust and SILAS HEMINGWAY of Shrewsbury took his place. The will was witnessed by NABY (illegible),REUBEN DUNTON & ARTEMUS WARD. The change of executor document was witnessed by DAVID NELSON & SALLY PATTERSON.
The inventory of the estate was filed 4 Aug. 1795 and was taken by ISAAC HARRINGTON, DAVID NELSON, & HUMPHREY BIGELOW.
The estate was distributed to heirs and creditors on 2 June 1801 as follows: REUBEN DUNTON, 4 shillings HUMPHREY BRIGHAM, 6 shillings LYDIA PRATT, 5 shillings JEDEDIAH TUCKER,6 shillings TIMOTHY HOWARD,6 shillings JONAS STONE Jr., 4/8 shillings ABIGAIL PRATT,5 shillings NABY HARRIS, 4 shillings DANIEL HOLDEN,9 shillings ISAAC HARRINGTON,6 shillings ELIZABETH MIXER,13 pounds SILAS ?,9 shillings DAVID NELSON,6 shillings BENJ ? JOSEPH MIXER,1-11-2 ASA MIXER,1-17-3 administrator,3-18-0 settlement costs,0-12-0 Above documents recorded Worcester Mass. Probate Court Series A. Case 41165. 1790 MA cn Worcester Co.
