Do you have any information on the death of Robert Foudray? The family of Robert and Myrtle Foudray is listed all together on the 1900 Census.
In 1905 Myrtle married Benjamin F. Wilson. Between 1900 and 1905 the children were placed in foster homes. My Mother (Eva) being one.
Robert is my grandfather. There isn't any notice of death or remarriage. Robert is the son of John H. Foudray and Nancy Lewellyn Helphenstine.

Robert and Myrtle were living in Shelbyville, Kentucky according to the 1900 census.
The family was listed as Robert age 27
Myrtle age 20
Zelma age 5
Roman age 3

Robert was listed as a farmer.
Myrtle married Benjamin F. Wilson on October 7, 1905, in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky . She was listed as Miss Myrtle Foudray. What happened from 1900 to 1905? What happened to Robert and why were the children taken from them? My Mother (Eva) told me she (Myrtle) was in a Tuberculosis Sanitarium. When Myrtle was released, she tried to find the Foudray children, but they had been placed in Foster Homes.
Roman was listed as 13 years old in the 1910 census; the name was changed to FAUDRY. He was listed as a ward, and Hyram H. Ford was listed as a relative. Hyram was in his 80's at that time. Later Roman left and went to Texas. I e-mail back and forth to his daughter Deidre. He didn't care for his Father (Robert Foudray) and didn't associate with him.
Zelma is listed as an orphan, age 14 in the 1910 census. Houston and Mary Good were listed as her parents. She was married to Alford Adams. There was nothing mentioned in her obituary about her being adopted or having any brothers or sisters. She died in the Clifty Convalesent Center in Madison, IN.
The obituary said that she was born in New Castle, Indiana [should have been Shelbyville, Kentucky], on May 10, 1895. Deidre tried to get a copy of the obituary to find who the pallbearers were. She married Alford Adams on September 16, 1933. She was 93 years old when she died.
Eva (my Mother) and Allen were placed in a foster home. They lived with the family of James and Ella Green in English, Kentucky. I don't have anything on Allen. They went by the name of Green. Eva was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and I think Allen was also. Allen had a son, but I can't recall his name right now, and a daughter Evelyn. I don't have much information on Allen.
I don't know if I have answered all your questions. The Foudray name was changed several different times. Clear back to Jon when he came from France .

Thanks for your response. It is difficult to catch up after being on vacation and sick as well! Hope you are improving!
The Foudray family I'm searching on is John H Foudray and Nancy L. Helphenstine (born 1833 and 1837). John H's parents were Sacheverell Foudray.
John H and Nancy had 8 children, Nancy E, Anastasia, Malinda, John Charles, Lilly Dale, Samuel P, Robert and Daniel. (all of these are in your postings on ancestry, some have been recently updated or corrected with information I'd provided to Irene Parrott). This Robert would be my grandfather. He married Myrtle Self and they had 4 children, Zelma, Roman (my father), Eva, and Allen. Robert, Myrtle, Zelma, Roman, Eva and Allen all appear in the 1900 census in Poplar Plains, KY together as a family group.
However, Myrtle went into a sanitorium for TB treatment around 1900, the children were placed in foster homes, but never adopted by the families they lived with. My father, Roman, and Zelma, the oldest, were in touch through the years, but were silent on the "family" subject. Basically, they didn't know where their father was, pretty much thought he was an SOB, and didn't hope to see him any time again, ever.
The puzzle is that in 1910, a Robert L. Foudray, married to Catherine (Kate) Johnston appear in the1910 census in California with an oldest son, Richard, born in Kentucky in November of 1900, another son born in Ohio, Theodore. In the 1920 census they live in the same place in California, and also in the 1930 census in the same place in California (now with a daughter, Ethyl). However, Robert died in 1929, but the rest of the family was still together. I have his obituary which says (agrees with census) that he was born in Kentucky (so was Catherine Johnston). I'm wondering if this Robert in CAlifornia is the same that was in Kentucky in this family grouping. I have not been able to find another Robert, born in Kentucky (or anywhere else actually), who fits within the same year range for birth from 1870 to 1872, I think. There are some discrepancies in census info on age vs birth date. I would like to find out if this Robert in CAlifornia is one in the same from Kentucky in 1900. I have no divorce records, perhaps he's a biggamist! Ha! Also the 1910 census asks for number of years married and it shows 12. It also asks for number of marriages, and it says 1. That information, if true, would not totally jive with what we "think" we know. I would like to track down one of the children or grand children from the California group to see if they know any information on Robert. All the information I have on this group is from the obituaries from Robert in 1929 and from his daughter Ethyl, I told you of in the previous email. I thought perhaps you might know of this family of Foudrays in California or that this group might be relatives of your wife.
