Harry E. Houghton, Jr., age 81, passed away December 16, 2016, following injuries sustained after an automobile accident. Beloved husband for 61 years to Shirley, nee Judy. Loving father of Susan (Gary) Smith, Bill (Nancy) Houghton, Carol (Greg) Dowdy, Beverly Thanos and Ken Houghton. Cherished grandfather of Eric (Christie) Smith, Brian (Stacey) Smith; Jim Houghton and Allison Houghton; and Jillian Dowdy. Dear brother of Janet (Jim) Staniec and the late Frederick (Jeane) Houghton and Anna May Wadman. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews. Retired mechanical engineer from Automotion in Oak Lawn, IL with over 31 years of service. Lifelong racer and hot rodder. In 1976 Harry won the UDRA pro stock championship and also won crew chief of the year. In his later years, his love of dogs was evident, being known as the neighborhood "dog walker". Frederick W. Houghton, age 77, of Geneva, passed away Sunday December 7, 2014, at Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 26, 1937, in Chicago, the son of Harry and Lillian Houghton.

Frederick worked many years as a manager for the Illinois Bell Phone Company. He was also a teacher for Bellcore TEC in Lisle. In his spare time Frederick liked golfing and fishing. His greatest enjoyment in life, however, was spending time with his family and friends, especially as beloved "Pop" to his 12 grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Jeane; children, Michael (Linda) of Grayslake, Melinda (Michael) Bernhard of Geneva, and Marc (Tia) of Troy, Missouri; grandchildren, Amy, David, and Mary Houghton, Sarah (Scott) Passman, Emily, Bradley, Mark, and Hannah Bernhard, and Allison, Drake, Noah, and Meiling Houghton; siblings, Harry (Shirley) of Orland Park and Janet (James) Staniec of Valparaiso, IN.

Frederick was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna May Wadman; and grandson, John Anthony Bernhard.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Rt. 38), Geneva with a rosary recited at 7:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva with Father Martins Emeh, Celebrant. Burial will be held on Friday, December 12, at 12:30 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence, 901 Martha Street, Elk Grove Village IL, 60007 or St. Peter Catholic Church, Geneva, IL 60134 would be appreciated.

MISHAWAKA, IN - Paul E. Houghton, 34, passed away at home on Sunday, February 3, 2019.

Paul was born on June 26, 1984 in Mishawaka to James and Celeste (Frick) Houghton. Surviving are his loving parents, James and Celeste; sister, Elizabeth (Edward) Thompson; brother, Matthew Houghton; nieces, Lillian Thompson and Stella Thompson; nephews, Wyatt Thompson and Oliver Thompson; and his grandfather, James E. Houghton.
Paul worked in Construction with Local #645. He was a people person, never knew a stranger; he was always there to help his friends with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Paul had many nicknames (that he would have insisted we not use) but no matter what we called him we always knew him as a wanderer. From the time he was old enough to reach the handle he was out the door, eager to be off exploring neighborhoods and meeting new people. All journeys end though. All wanderings cease. Our wanderer has been called home too soon, so please, come open our door and share memories and moments from his wanderings with you.
