Katie Coakley Houghton, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, January 27, 2006 at her home. She was a member of First Christian Church and a member of the Loyal Workers Sunday school class. She and her late husband, Willie M. Houghton, were the owners and operators of the Colonial Motel in Fredericksburg. She was a member of the Elks Lodge 875 Auxiliary and the Mary Washington Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter, Janice H. Fletcher and her husband David, of Fredericksburg; two grandsons, R. David M. Fletcher and his wife, Aimee, of Fredericksburg, Jonathan William Fletcher of Fredericksburg; one great-grandson, Braiden Fletcher; four sisters, Ethel Vaughn, Elizabeth Mignogna and Elsie Jennings, all of Ashland and Erma Cornett of Fredericksburg; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 30, at First Christian Church, with Rev. Gary Staddan officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 29, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg and one hour prior to the service on Monday, January 30 at the church.
