FOXBORO - Ruth Evelyn (Hartshorn) Houghton, 78, died Tuesday.
She was the wife of the late Wallace A. Houghton Jr.
Born and raised in Norwood, she graduated from Norwood High School. She was also a member of the last class of cadet nurses at Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1948.
She worked as a registered nurse for the Neponset Valley Health System before retir-
ing.
She was a longtime member of the United Church of Norwood and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Roxanne R. Houghton of Attleboro, Paula L. Houghton of Hyannis, Marcia Houghton-Simonds of Foxboro and Wallace A. Houghton III of Cranston, R.I; a brother, Earle C. Hartshorn of Walpole; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also the mother of the late James E. Houghton.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Church in Walpole, 30 Common St.
