Christine Rockett Houghton. 85. of 114 S. Fifth St. died Wednesday at her home.
She was born April 23. 1903. in Birmingham, Ala., and was the widow of the Rev. Edgar E. Houghton. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Danville. She was a former school teacher and had been a librarian at the Kentucky Children’s Home. Lyndon. She was a member of Wilderness Trace Art League and Streamland Homemakers Club.
Survivors include a daughter. Mrs. Ken (Jane) Snowden of Danville; a son. William Houghton of Danville; a sister, Mrs. Richard Mills of Fort Meyers, Fla; five grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p. m. today a t The Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Michael Brothers and the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Wheat. Burial will be private.
Visitation is at the church following the service.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Edgar E. Houghton Memorial Book Fund of the Louisville Presbyterian Seminary or Heritage Hospice.

Graveside services for Mrs. Dahlia Neel Houghton, 86, of Bossier City, will be held Monday, Aug. 8, at 10 o.m. in Forest Park Cemetery. The Rev. Earl T. Gentry, Chaplin of Pilgrim Manor Homes, will officiate.
Mrs. Houghton, the widow of the late James Homer Houghton, died Saturday, August6,1983, in Pilgrim Manor North in Bossier City after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Sabine Parish and a resident of Bossier City for 44 years. She was a charter member of the First Church of Nazarene of Bossier City.
She is survived by two sons, William I. Houghton of Ringgold and James Richard Houghton of Bossier City; one daughter, Mrs. Rose Crowe of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Spinks of Shreveport; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Her seven grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Wilmer Maxine Houghton; daughter, Nadine Carty; brother, Richard Houghton and his sister, Rose Margaret Crowe. Left to cherish his memory include his sons and daughters-in-law, James W. and Karan Houghton of Houston, TX and Charles R. and Amy Houghton of Tulsa, OK; son-in-law, David Carty of Ringgold, LA; two grandsons, William Carty and Charles R. Houghton, Jr; a special granddaughter and precious companion, Cynthia Marie Houghton; 4 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
