BRIELLE - Horace (î Houghton, 65, of 652 Ocean- view Rd., died yesterday. Mr. Houghton came here from Livingston eight years ago. At the time of his retirement last December Mr. Houghton was the resident manager of Tucker Anthony, stock brokers in Newark. He was past president of the Bond Club of New .Jersey in Newark. Surviving are his wife, the former Jessie Macintosh; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Young, El Paso, Tex., and Mrs. William Barlow, Mount Laurel; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Cassaday, Wayne, and Mrs. Vivian Seidel, Franklin; his mother, Mrs. Lucy Houghton, Newark; and three grandchildren.

He Is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Garretson of Fort Lauderdale, and one son, Mr. Richard Houghton of Edison, New Jersey; and five grandchildren.

HOWARD HOUGHTON SR. AGE: 86, METUCHEN
Howard G. Houghton Sr., 86, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his wife and family who loved him. Born in Jersey City, Howard lived there before moving to Menlo Park Terrace 54 years ago. He worked for the Social Security Administration as District Manager in Perth Amboy and Trenton, retiring 23 years ago. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World WarII, and was in combat on Kwaja- lein Atoll, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. He spent the last months of his tour on the USS Wasp, being honorably discharged in October 1945. He was a member of American Legion Post 471 in Iselin and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 52 in Edison. Howard was a graduate of Jersey City State College, and was a quiet and modest man who was well respected by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his mother, Frieda Waldhauer Houghton; his brothers, Stanley and Wallace, and his sister, Edith Hunter. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen (Reynolds) Houghton; his sons, Howard Jr. and his wife, Janis of Springfield, Va., and James of Florida; his daughters, Barbara Horahan and her husband, Kevin Sr. of Brick, Kathy Won- ski and her husband, Michael of Brick, and Mariellen Scoopo and her husband, Frederic of Randolph; grandchildren, Kevin Horahan Jr. and his wife, Marianne, Erin Nagle and her husband, Matthew, Andrew, Hannah and Michael Houghton, Michael and Thomas Wonski, Ryan and Taylor Scoopo, and great-grandchildren, Kieran and Quinn Nagle. Burial will be at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.
