Paul V. Houghton, 82, of 351 Walnut St., Columbia, died of natural causes Friday at St. Anne's Home, Columbia.

Houghton was employed by Motor Freight Express, Keystone, and Mushroom Transportation as a dock worker.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Houghton was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lancaster, and Loyal Order of the Moose, Lancaster.

He was the last living charter member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 771.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Ellen Jane Briggs Houghton.

His wife, Wilhelmina Witte Houghton, died in 1989.

Surviving are two brothers, Earl R. of New Danville and Theodore R. of Millersville; a sister, Mary A. Witmer of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.5

Deceased Name: EARL R. HOUGHTON SR., 83, DAIRY WORKER Earl R. Houghton Sr., 83, of 340 Sprecher Road, died after a brief illness Saturday at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. He had lived at Oak Leaf Manor in Millersville for the past month. Houghton retired in 1983 after 10 years as an ice cream mixer for Turkey Hill Dairy. Before that, he worked for Queen Dairy.
Earlier he worked for the former Aments Garage in Millersville and the former Courtney and Todd Garage in Willow Street.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II as a corporal in the Battery A 79th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gunnery Battalion, receiving several medals. He also served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
He enjoyed fishing, crafts, carpentry, birdwatching and hunting in Huntingdon County. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Walter and Jennie Houghton.
He was married to Violet Mae Rankin Houghton, who died in 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Brenda L, wife of R. Ronald Reedy of Lititz, and Kay L., wife of Ken Yarnell of Columbia; two sons, Earl R. Jr., husband of Hedy Axe Houghton of Willow Street, and Bruce H., husband of Lorie Boyd Houghton of Conestoga; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Houghton Witmer of Lancaster; and a brother, Theodore, husband of Hazel Houghton of Millersville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul.4

Lee R. Houghton. 78. a retiree of the Watt & Shand Department Store, died Wednesday at his home. 1028 W. Ross St., after a long illness.
He and his wife. Dorothy Roark Martin Houghton, observed their 14th wedding anniversary on Oct. 30.
A lifelong Lancaster County resident, he was a veteran of World War II. A U.S. Army sergeant. he served in the 10th Mountain Division, a group of Green Berets, stationed in Italy.
Upon his discharge from the service, he became a supervisor at the former Hubley Manufacturing Co. Then, from 1955 until 1987. he was head of the shipping and receiving department at Watt & Shand. He worked many years at the Park City Center store, from which he retired.
Houghton was a member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit and the Nu Voice Club. He had been an avid stamp collector since he was 12 years old. and he also enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
Born in Bird-in-Hand. he was the son of the late Elam and Florence Mae Simmons Houghton. His first wife, Pearl Romaine Sterner Houghton, died in 1957.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter. Dr. Carol Lee. Harrisburg; a stepson. H. Eugene Brown. Manheim; four step- grandchildren; three step-greatgrandchildren: and a brother. Richard F., Lancaster

Deceased Name: RICHARD HOUGHTON, OPERATIONS MANAGER Richard E. Houghton, 78, of 207 Willow Valley Drive, died at 2 a.m. Saturday at his home after an illness of several months. He was the husband of the late Evelyn King Houghton, who died in 1994. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of late Elam and Florence Simmons Houghton. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant in the South Pacific region from Australia to Japan. From 1936 to 1958, he was an employee of Frey & Son Lumber Co. In 1958, he began working as a driver for the Wickes Lumber Corp. In 1980, he retired as the northeast-area operations manager at the Allentown office. He was noted for creating collage clocks, which he called Hand Crafted Time Creations, according to a 1994 Sunday News article. Referring to himself as "part artist, part inventor" he constructed the collages using pictures of motorcycles, race cars, trains, planes, clowns, sports, scenic postcards and holiday photographs. When the collage was completed, he would add a clock face. He was also an avid collector of miniature trains and toy trucks. He had 1,200 Hubley and Matchbox toys in his collection.
He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ and was an active volunteer in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Christ Home for Children and the Water St. Rescue Mission.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.3

The plant will be converted by the manufacture of a plastic coating material that has found a heavy market in the petroleum industry, company officials said.
The product is used for coating of mctal and prevents corrosion. WILL EMPLOY FIFTEEN
The two structures oí the East Smethport plant cover about 20,- »00 square feet oí space. Present Machinery m the plant will be removed and will be replaced with equipment used by the Laboratories. It was expected that the East Smethport plant will be in operation in about three months, with ten to fifteen persons employed. They will be recruited rom the Smethport area, with supervisory personnel from Olean. Ths Smethport plant will be on addition to the Laboratories’ buildings on Seneca Avenue, Olean, where about thirty persons. including sales personnel, are now employed.
Demand Great     
Russell M. Houghton, president of the company, said the demand (or his product is so great that more production space was needed, in addition to its facilities in Olean. His company was incorporated in September, 1949, after it had been in operation about a year on a small scale, its $J3õ- 000 was furnished by out-of-town investors. One of the company's products is "Hysol 6000.” a plastic material which has many uses, including insulators lor television sets. The company also makes “Coradon" and “Coradal." plastic coatings which protect metal from corrosion and rust.Besides Mr. Houghton, other officers of the company are Kenneth Meyer, Bradford, and Raphael KcSsler, Olean, vice presidents; Harry Richards. New York City, secretary; and Dorn McGrath, Bradford, sales manager.
