ObituaryJoanna Houghton died on November 15th at home with family present. She made many friends in Ballard, where she resided for the past 12 years. Born on July 4, 1920 in Ridgeway Township, MI she grew up on the family farm in Britton, Michigan. Youngest daughter of Leon Clarence Exelby and Floy (Underwood) Exelby, she was married at the Peoples Church in East Lansing, Michigan in 1950 to Howard E. Houghton who is predeceased in 1998. Joanna is survived by her children - Matthew West Seattle WA, Martha J Cooke, Santa Fe New Mexico, Ralph Daniel, Walden, New York and Mark, Vashon, WA and 9 grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the residence and staff of the Landmark, Ballard Senior Center and Swedish Medical Center in Ballard for their thoughtful support and companionship. She was a loving wife, mother and friend who will be missed and fondly remembered.

age 90, beloved husband of the late Iola L. Houghton, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017. He was a loving father to his three daughters and sons-in-law: Ellen and Kenneth Blair, Carol and Douglas Lawton, Nancy Brajtbord, and Dan Brajtbord. He was a devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Donald was born in Boston and graduated from Tufts University with his degree in Economics. He was employed by General Electric's Lighting and Lamp Division in their finance department throughout his professional career in both an international and national capacity. Don loved his Lord and church and served in many roles at Church of the Good Shepherd throughout his 57 years of membership. He will be greatly missed. ObituaryJan 25, 1984Carl S. Houghton Southbridge, Mass. -Carl S. Houghton, 71, of Southbridge died Tuesday following a long illness. He was born in Bellowi Falls, Vt.. Aug. 1, 1918, son of Henry and Gladys (Ploof) Houghton. He was a graduate of Springfield ( Vt.) High School. Mr. Houghton had been employed a a mechanical engineering gear specialist with Fellow Gear Shaper Co. in Springfield, Vt., for 44 years, retiring in 1977. He was also a Held representative of the firm for 35 years. He had resided in Southbridge for 30 years. A lover of animals, he was Interested in the research of hip replacement in dogs that was later applied to humans. He was a member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge in Springfield, Vt., Worcester Council, Loyal and Select Masters; Scottish Rites Bodies of Boston nod a life member of the National Rifle Association. - s. , Survivors are his wife, Marian (Putnam) Houghton of Southbridge; a daughter, Mr. William (Marilyn) Cass of West Springfield; two sons, Also C. Houghton of Southbridge and James P. Houghton of Sturbridge; two brothers, Frank Houghton of Springfield, Vt., and Raymond Houghton of Walpole. N.H; two sisters, Hra. Keith (Ruth) Stearns of Springfield, Vt., and Mrs. 'Winston (Dorothy) Cook of Chester, Vt; eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Bullard's Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. In Southbridge. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, also in Southbridge. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to (p.m. The family has requested, in lieu of floweri, memorial contributions to the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital, 350 Huntington Ave., Boston, Mass. 02130.
