He was a trustee of Boston University, and of Drew Theological Seminary (Madison, NJ) from 1913-1928. He was corresponding secretary of the American Bible Society for 29 years and attended the World Missionary Conference at Edinburgh in 1910. He visited Spain in revising the Bible in Spanish translation, a world tour in relation to the Centennial of the American Bible Society, was a founder of the Epworth League in 1888, was chairman of the Admin. Com. of the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America.³
