Obituary

"ADELAID JACQUELINE (JACKIE) DWYER passed away on January 2, 2006. Jackie was born on June 8, 1918, in Northfield, VT and was raised in Searsport, ME. She attended Gorham Normal School (now the University of Southern Maine) and Maine School of Commerce. Jackie was married to John B. (Jack) Dwyer in 1941. She and Jack lived on Long Island, New York for a number of years until they moved to Houston in the 1960s, where Jack was a chemical engineer with Kellogg until his death on August 12, 1991.
Jackie enjoyed traveling, and she and Jack visited destinations around the world. An original resident of Westbrae Court, an assisted living residential facility in Houston, Jackie had resided there since June 30, 1985. In addition to her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde W. Houghton and Adelaid S. Houghton and her half-brother, Gerald D. (Bumps) Stinson.
Jackie is survived by her cousin, Dorothea Young of Northfield Falls, VT, her sister-in-law, Caryl D. Bergen of Roseland, NJ, and various nieces and nephews."

Biography

son of Brigham and Adeline Adams (Perkins) Sibley, a descendant of John Sibley, of Salem, Mass., in 1629 [NEHGR gives descendancy list]. He was president of the Board of Trustees of the University of Rochester, the Rochester City Hospital, and the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, and a vestryman of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He married secondly on Nov. 21, 1885, Elizabeth Sibley Conkey and had 2 children by her. He placed a plaque at NEHGR in 1924 honoring John Sibley.
