JOHNSTON, Karen (Skalko) -- Age 40, of Miles City passed away Saturday, July 28, 2001 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City due to complications during childbirth. Karen was born in Oakland, California on August 14, 1960 the daughter of William S. and Antoinette (Vassallo) Skalko. She attended Saint Dunstan School at Millbrae, California and graduated from Caputino High School. Following graduation, she attended Fresno State University. She worked as a counselor in Ukiah, California until moving to Miles City where she went to work at Mental Health and also worked at Pine Hills School for boys as a counselor until the time of her death. Karen loved antique shopping, gardening, bicycling, and reading. Karen is survived by her husband Brian Johnston of Miles City, MT; her daughter, Karen Nancy Johnston of Miles City, MT; her parents, William and Antoinette Skalko of Millbrae, CA; a step-son, J.B. Johnston of Miles City, MT; a sister, Suzanne Vargas of San Bruno, CA; and a niece, Venezia Vargas of San Bruno, CA. Vigil services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 3, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements. Should friends desire, memorials may be made for an education fund for Karen Nancy Johnston.

Stephen Flahavan, died peacefully on Monday February 25th, 2019. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian & adoring daughter Stephanie Flahavan. Survived by his brother Joseph (Alice) and many in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins & friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Madeline, his brother Thomas.
A San Francisco native, both Navy Seabee & U.S. Army Veteran, retired from Pac Bell and City & County of San Francisco Electrical Department. Steve was member of San Mateo Elks Club, Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County and the OLA Men's Club.
Memorial mass will be celebrated on Sunday March 10th, 2019 at 2:00 pm, Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 1721 Hillside Dr. Burlingame. Committal prior at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma at 1:00pm Friday, March 8th.
