From NY he proceeded to the "New Purchase". He bought property at the land sale at Brookville, in Franklin County, and settled on his purchase in Rush County, IN. and is named as an early settler of Union Twp, Rush County in an 1888 History of Rush County, IN. John and Rachel had 10 children.¹³
