Notes for Alfonso Barnard (Bernardo) HANSON
Alfonso Bernardo started to school in October 1895 in Lewisville, OH. At that time this was a two-room school which was unusual and his father Edward Iddo had been teaching in this school before and for two years after his marriage. After 1897 Alfonso attended various one-room schools until 1903 when the family moved to Marietta. In 1905 he quit school and started to work in the Marietta Chair factory - sixty hours per week at $2.75(?) per week. In March 1906 he started to work for Henry Albrecht’s grocery store and in 1907 he was asked to go to work for the B. S. Sprague Electric Co. where he remained until the family moved to Cleveland in 1910. By that time his salary was $9.00 per week.
