Harold Edward attended grade school in Akron and Randolph, OH, graduated from Randolph High School with a scholarship in Dramatics, then attended Kent State University - majored in Journalism and Business Administration. He worked as a reporter for Akron newspapers while in college and until 1940 when he was employed by the production department of the Union Drawn Steel Division of the Republic Steel Corp.

168He served as Master Sergeant in the Medical Division of the U. S. Army Combat Engineers from Nov 19, 1943 until January, 1946. In 1947, after successfully passing all tests and requirements at Fenn College, Cleveland OH, he went to the Sales Department of Republic Steel. In 1950 he was transferred to the Philadelphia office and in 1954 was transferred to the New York Sales office. As of 1961, they live in Ramsey, NJ.
169Harold and Betsy moved to Glastonbury, CT in 1968 and lived there for 27 years. Harold was very active in Faith Lutheran Church in East Hartford, serving as President of the Church Council for 5 years.
