Reference NumberJames Snelson had reference number 431.
BiographyAccording to his will he left 3 houses in Congleton.

James Snelson (Id# 431) c1768-1811, married Elizabeth (nee Stubbs), who was according to the pedigree of the Fallowes family in Earwaker's " East Cheshire, Past and Present " on page 362 of Volume II related to NELL, NAN and/or BESS STUBBS, of Capesthorne, being a mother and two daughters.

These three ladies were hanged at Chester for bewitching to death Mrs. Elizabeth Furnival, daughter to Mr. Jo Fallowes of Fallowes Hall, father-in-law of Thomas Acton.

According to Stephen King (Id# 1591), these three ladies were related to James Snelson's wife Elizabeth, and thus he ( Stephen ) is descended from the kinsmen of the accusers ( the Actons ) as well as the victims ( the Stubbs ) ; a remarkable set of circumstances !
