He became a Freeman of the City of Chester on 30 August 1865, when he was described as a coach wheeler. A note says that he was " grandson of William Snelson, farmer and son of Samuel Snelson, cabinet maker. Identity proved by mother. " He was indentured to James Hewitt, coachbuilder for 7 years from 1857.

BiographyThere seem to be 17 persons buried in this grave - 15 of them in March to June in the early part of 1867 - when there may have been an outbreak of cholera or typhus. Apart from a few persons, they seem to be unrelated, many of them young children.

DeathHe died on 1 May 1867, at age 24, in 53 Handbridge, Chester, I think there was an outbreak of typhus and/or cholera in 1867 in many industrial towns including Liverpool. The informat of the death was John's next door neighbour, Sarah Avery whol lived at number 54 Handbridge.7
