| Birth | She was born on 4 October 1875 in Holt Lane Bit of a mystery here. The record in England & Wales Births 1837-2006 says that Margaret was born in the 4th quarter of 1875 and that her mother's maiden name was "Critchley". However, the Baptisms at Eccleston Christ Churcg on 2 Jan 1876 say that her parents were "Henry" a watch maker and "Margaret". I think we are looking at separate "Margarets" here. I am thinking that the Margaret Critchley born in October 1875 is the daughter of Eunice and Peter Webster Critchley. For Margaret to have a mother's name registered as "Critchley" too, is either a great coinicidence, an indication of some intra family relationship or perhaps a daughter born out of wedlock. It looks like Peter and Eunice did not get married until a month after Margaret was born. |
