Census 1851	Margaret Jones Id #8,384 (Principal) was at home on Census night 31 March 1851 at Belgrave Place, Chester; The head of the household, presumably Margaret's husband John Snelson (#4) seems to have been absent on this night. I am not sure whether he was a moulder and ironfounder or a joiner. Perhaps he was both. He seems to have "disappeared", but Margaret is never described as a "widow". Note	My quick synopsis of the Will is like this : In the name of God, Amen. The 28th day of July in the year of our Lord 1599, I, Ralph Snelson, of Alvechurch (Worcestershire), being weak in body but of good and perfect memory, thanks be to God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following: First, I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, my maker and redeemer, trusting to be saved by the merits of Jesus Christ, and my body to be buried in the parish churchyard. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Snelson certain lands and tenements (property), with their rights and appurtenances, to hold to him and his heirs according to the custom of the manor. Item, I give unto my wife Grace the use of my goods and household stuff for so long as she shall remain unmarried, and after her death or remarriage, the same goods to be divided among my children. Item, I will that my debts be paid and my funeral expenses discharged. I tem, I give small sums (or goods) to the poor of the parish. Item, I appoint Grace my wife and Edward my son to be executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ N.B. Alvechurch means "Ælfgyth's church".In the eighth century, Ælfgyth founded a church on the site of the church of St. Laurence. King Offa of Mercia gave the land forming the parish to the Bishops of Worcester in 780. The parish is mentioned in the Domeday Book of 1068 as Alvievecherche with a small population of under 20 people.In the thirteenth century the Bishop of Worcester built a palace in the village, and a weekly market and an annual fair were established.
Birth	He was born about 1560.
Baptism	He was baptised on 19 December 1560 in Audlem, Cheshire, Well, this is a guess. I suspect rather that Ralph did perhaps live in Sutton near Macclesfield because that is where his son Edward seems to have been born. All of this may be wrong as evidence is thin to say the least. Yes, there is a son Edward and Yes there is a Edward born in 1581 and Yes, he is baptised in Sutton - but is this Edward to son of Ralph and Grace? It fits, but my confidence is not high.
Marriage	Raffe Snelsone and Grace Richards (Snelson) were married on 23 October 1580 in Blackfriars, London, Address: St Anne's Boyd's marriage index, 1538-1850.
	His son Edward Snelson was born in 1581 in Sutton, Macclesfield.
Death	Raffe Snelsone died about 1599, at age ~39.
Residence	He resided in Much Malvern, Worcestershire, about 1599.
Will	He left a will on 20 July 1599.
Burial	Raffe's remains were buried on 14 August 1599 in Malvern, Worcestershire.
