Narrative:

Walter Adam Schuck was born on 3 Aug 1899 in Peoria, Illinois.9,10,11 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, George W. Schuck and Katherine Elizabeth Oetzel.5
He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents.6
He moved to Urbana with his parents between 1910 and 1912. He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents.20
Walter married first Almarie Peel, daughter of Dr. Charles E. Peel and Rosa Wearren, in 1924 in Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois.12,13,14
Walter and Almarie were living at 405 E. California Ave., Urbana, in 1927.21 They then moved in with his parents, at 306 S. Vine, in Urbana, where they are listed in the 1928 city directory.22
Walter appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois, at 304½ E. Illinois, enumerated 9 Apr 1930, reporting that he rented his home for $30 per month, and owned a radio. His first wife, Almarie Peel, and their daughter, Frances, appear to be listed with him. However the record is in some doubt because both his wife and child are recorded as Ruth, a name neither of them ever used.23 Further, family oral history has them as engaged in custody litigation in connection with divorce proceedings about two years before this. However, neither Almarie nor their daughter can be found elsewhere in the 1930 census.24
Walter married second Beulah E. Deniston, daughter of Charles E. Deniston and Carrie A. [surname unknown], on 29 Oct 1938 in Marion Co., Indiana.15,16
Walter and Beulah appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at 4411 Winthrop Ave., enumerated 2 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a home valued at $4,500, and that he had lived in the same city, and she in the same house, in 1935. Also listed as living with them were her sister, Hazel B. Taylor, and her daughter, Melba.25
He was a store room clerk in a steam shop by 1920. He is listed as an accountant for the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway Company in the 1927 and 1928 city directories, but as a clerk in the 1930 census, so his exact position is unclear.26,27,28 In the 1940 census his occupation is shown as timekeeper for a steam railroad. He reported he had worked 44 hours the last week of March, and had worked 52 weeks the prior year, earning $1,598.25
Walter died on 7 Dec 1949 in Urbana, Illinois, at age 50.17,18,19 He was buried in East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois.2
