Narrative:

     George W. Schuck was born on 25 Dec 1873 in Washington, Illinois.6,7,8 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, John Schuck and Catherine Geltmacher.4
     George married Katherine Elizabeth Oetzel, daughter of Adam Oetzel and Caroline Glabe, on 18 May 1898 in Farmdale, Illinois.6,9,10
     George and Katherine appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 411 Spencer, enumerated 5 Jun 1900, reporting that they rented their home. Their son Walter was listed as living with them, as was George's younger brother William.13
     George and Katherine appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 822 First Ave., enumerated 16 Apr 1910, reporting that they owned their home, mortgage free. Their children Walter, Ada, Lucile and LaVerna were listed as living with them.14
     George and Katherine moved to Urbana between 1910 and 1912 with their three young children.
     He was a carpenter in 1900. It is not clear what type of carpentry he was doing, but clearly he soon moved to railroad work if he was not doing that already. He reported he was a car repairman in 1910, and a foreman in the car department of a steam shop in 1920.15,16,17
     George registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 306 S. Vine, Urbana, Illinois, reporting he was employed as a general car foreman with the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway Company, also known as the "Big Four."1
     He was seems to have left railroad work for a time. In 1927 he was an assembler at Leavitt Manufacturing. But my 1930 he was back with the Big Four as a car repairman. He was a car inspector for them by 1935.18,19,20
     George and Katherine appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois, at 306 S. Vine, enumerated 6 Jan 1920, reporting that they rented their home. Their children Walter, Ada, Lucile, LaVerna, Evelyn and Virginia were listed as living with them.21
     George and Katherine appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois, at 306 S. Vine, enumerated 3 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $4,000, and owned a radio. Their children Lucile, Evelyn and Virginia were listed as living with them. Their daughter Ada and her husband and young son were living around the corner, on Green St.2
     George and Katherine appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois, at 306 S. Vine, enumerated 3 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a home valued at $4,500. Their daughter Virginia was listed as living with them, as was her husband. They and their daughter reported they had lived in the same house in 1935, and their son-in-law reported he had lived in the same city.22
     George died on 29 Mar 1951 in Urbana, Illinois, at age 77.11,12 He was buried on 1 Apr 1951 in East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois.3
