John William Fenker was born on 25 Dec 1856 in Covington, KentuckyG.4,5,6
     He was universally known as William, with only a few documents using his first name of John.16,17,18
     He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., KentuckyG, in the household of his parents, William Fenker and Louisa Lebeau.19 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., KentuckyG, in the household of his parents.20
     John married Amelia Louise Wieman, daughter of Henrich Friedrich Wiemann and Anna Maria Catharine Charlotte Rothefeld, on 26 May 1880 in North German Lutheran Church, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG.7,8,9
     John and Amelia appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, at 718 Willard St. G, enumerated 5 Jun 1880, apparently living with a 70 year old widow, Barbara Hermann.21
     John and Amelia moved about 1892 to 1108 Gest St., Cincinnati, OhioG, the home of her parents, to take care of her father after the death of her mother.22
     He joined the Third Presbyterian Church in 1898, and while there was active in the Railroad branch of the YMCA. He transferred his membership to the North Presbyterian Church 14 Feb 1909, and became a teacher in the Sabbath School there. He was elected a ruling elder 5 Apr 1911.1
     John and Amelia appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 925 Gest St. G, enumerated 6 Jun 1900. Their children Alfred, Howard, Louise, and Clement were listed as living with them.23
     John and Amelia appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 4104 Fergus Street G, enumerated 16 Apr 1910. Their children Alfred, Louise, and Clement were listed as living with them.3
     He apparently followed his father's trade as a baker in his youth, as he reported that trade in the 1880 census.24 By 1900 he was a porter at the Railroad YMCA. But he later took up the trade of painter. In the 1910 census he reported that he was a painter in a machine shop.25,26,27
     John died on 7 Nov 1912 in 4104 Fergus St., Cincinnati, OhioG, at age 55.10,11,12 He was buried on 9 Nov 1912 in Cemetery of Spring Grove, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, originally in a single lot, but then his wife apparently bought a family plot, and he was removed there 5 Dec 1912.13,14,15

     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, in the household of her parents, Friedrich Wiemann and Anna Maria Catharine Charlotte Rothefeld.15
     Amelia married John William Fenker, son of Johann Hinrich Wilhelm Fennker and Johanna Louise Baum, on 26 May 1880 in North German Lutheran Church, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG.7,8,9
     Amelia and John appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, at 718 Willard St. G, enumerated 5 Jun 1880, apparently living with a 70 year old widow, Barbara Hermann.16
     Amelia and John moved about 1892 to 1108 Gest St., Cincinnati, OhioG, the home of her parents, to take care of her father after the death of her mother.17
     Amelia and John appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 925 Gest St. G, enumerated 6 Jun 1900. Their children Alfred, Howard, Louise, and Clement were listed as living with them.18
     Amelia and John appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 4104 Fergus Street G, enumerated 16 Apr 1910. Their children Alfred, Louise, and Clement were listed as living with them.19
     Her husband died on 7 Nov 1912 in 4104 Fergus St., Cincinnati, OhioG.20,21,22
     Amelia moved to 448 Considine Ave.G by 1913 with her two younger children, Louise and Clement.23
     Amelia and her daughter Louise moved to New York before 1920, so Louise could go to school there.24,25 Amelia appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Kings Co., New York, at 150 Stewben St. G, enumerated 1 Aug 1920, reporting they were renting their home. Her daughter Louise was listed as living with her, as was Maud Barteshy, a school teacher who was listed as a boarder.26
     Amelia and Louise returned to Ohio by 1922 when they were living at 917 Curtis St. G.27
     Amelia and Louise moved to the suburb of NorwoodG about 1926.28 Amelia appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Norwood, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 2268 Feldman Ave. G, enumerated 17 Apr 1930, reporting that she owned a home worth $12,000, and had a radio set. Her daughter Louise was listed as living with her.29
     Amelia appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Norwood, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of her daughter Louise. Both reported they had lived in the same house in 1935.30
     Amelia died on 16 Dec 1943, at her home, 2268 Feldman, Norwood, Hamilton Co., OhioG, at age 82.10,11,12 She was buried on 20 Dec 1943 in Cemetery of Spring Grove, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, in the family lot she owned.13,14

Alfred William Fenker was born on 15 May 1881 in Covington, KentuckyG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents, John William Fenker and Amelia Louise Wieman.14
     He was a clerk by 1898, when he was still a student. After finishing school he tried a number of occupations. By 1905 he was a salesman for E. K. Morris & Co., file manufacturers and wholesale and retail dealers in metals and metalworking tools, at 317 W 2ndG.15,16,17 By the following year he was a clerk at The Pounsford Stationary Co., stationers, engravers, printers and binders, at 133 E 4thG.18
     By 1909 he was listed as a manufacturer's agent for enamelware, at 10 E 2nd St.G, and listed separately as a merchandise broker at the same address. In 1910 he reported his occupation as a salesman for an exhaust manufacturing company.19,20,21
     He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents.22
     Alfred married Jessie Blanch Billiter, daughter of Allen Billiter and Mary Ann Burnett, on 14 Jun 1910 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, with Rev. W. D. Malcom, minister of the Presbyterian Church.7,8,9
     In 1911 he was listed as a manufacturer of syrup for soda fountains at 913 W. Court St.G. That business seems to have been short-lived, as by 1913 he found what became his career for many years, being a salesman. He was working for The Ira D. Washburn Co., which dealt in paints, window glass, oils, and varishes.23,24 Alfred registered for the draft for World War I on 7 Sep 1918, while living in 1615 Potter Place, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, reporting he was employed as a traveling salesman, for the Ira D. Washburn Co., 906 Central Ave., Cincinnati.3
     Alfred and Jessie appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 1615 Potter Place G, enumerated 3 Jan 1920, with Jessie's mother, Mary Ann Burnett, listed as living with them.25
     He was a stock regulator for an auto tire company by 1920. By 1922 he had returned to sales, becoming a traveling salesman for The Standard Fruit Product Co., a position he held through the 1930's.26,27,28
     Alfred and Jessie appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 2622 Grover Hill Ave. G, enumerated 9 Apr 1930, reporting the family owned a home worth $8,000, and a radio set. Their children Edward and Mildred were listed as living with them, Jessie's mother, Mary Ann Burnett, was also in the household.29
     Alfred and Jessie appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 2622 Grover Hill G, enumerated 3 May 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $6,000, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children Edward and Mildred were listed as living with them, as was her mother.30
     By 1940 he was a salesman for Licht & Wankelman, jobbers of toys, fireworks, school supplies and novelties. That year he reported he had worked 24 hours the last week of March, and 30 weeks the prior year, earning $500.31,32
     Alfred registered for the draft for World War II on 26 Apr 1942, while living at 2622 Grover Hill Ave., Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, reporting he was employed by Ferro Concrete Construction Co., at 3rd and Elm, Cincinnati.33
     He was a cutter for Robertson Factories, curtain makers by 1948, working there the rest of his career. He reported in the 1950 census he had worked 40 hours the prior week, 52 weeks in 1949, earning $1,900 in wages or salary.34,35,36
     Alfred and Jessie appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at Grover Hill Ave. G, enumerated 15 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm and they lived in the same house the year before.37
     Alfred died on 8 Feb 1954 in 5535 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, at age 72, in the offices of his physician.10,11,12 He was buried on 11 Feb 1954 in Cemetery of Spring Grove, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, in the family plot owned by his mother.13

Louise A. Fenker was born on 6 Mar 1885 in Covington, Kenton Co., KentuckyG.4,5,6
     Louise recalled that she often spent a week or so with her grandmother Louisa Lebeau, who let her sprinkle the yard. Louise thought this was great fun as there was no grass at her mother's home on Gest St. in Cincinnati. She also recalled that her great-grandmother, Christina Baum, was baby sitter when her mother had to be away. Both the great-grandmother and grandmother lived with them off and on.11
     She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of her parents, John William Fenker and Amelia Louise Wieman.12 She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of her parents.13
     She was an artist for an art company by 1910. By 1912 she was a forelady at The Gibson Art Co., an art publisher, located at 418 Elm St.G. She continued there until at least 1918 in 1910.14,15
      Her father having died, she and her younger brother moved to 448 Considine Ave.G with their mother by 1913.16
     Louise and her mother moved to New York before 1920, so Louise could go to school there. According to family lore, Louise's sister-in-law, Irma Aurelia Sander, paid for her to study in New York.17,18 She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Kings Co., New York, G in the household of her mother.19
     Louise and her mother returned to Cincinnati by 1922, when they were living at 917 Curtis St. G.20 After her return to Cincinnati, Louise described herself as an artist in the city directory, but no further details about her work have been found. She was listed as an artist through 1925.21
     About 1925 she went to work for The George F. Otte Co., merchants in carpets, curtains, and draperies, at 29 West 4thG, as an interior decorator. At about the same time she also began teaching interior decorating at West Night High School. She continued teaching there until at least 1935.22,23,24,25
     Louise and her mother moved to the suburb of NorwoodG about 1926.26

She appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Norwood, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of her mother.28
     About 1937 she and J. Sherman Oberhelman, general manager, left the George F. Otte Co. and established a new business, at 311 Vine St.G. The business carried Oberhelman's name, but hers was prominently displayed as an associate in the firm's advertising.27,29,30
     Louise appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Norwood, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 2268 Feldman G, enumerated 20 Apr 1940, reporting she owned a home valued at $6,000. Her mother is listed as living with her, and both reported they had lived in the same house in 1935.31
     According to family lore, during the War she worked in an architect's office, drawing up plans for defense companies. She reported in the 1950 census she had worked 40 hours the prior week, doing drafting for a chemical manufacturing company.32,33
     Louise appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Norwood, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 2268 Feldman G, enumerated 3 Apr 1950, reporting she lived in a home that was not on a farm.34
     Louise died on 2 Sep 1981 in Silverton, Hamilton Co., OhioG, at age 96.7,8,9 She was buried on 4 Sep 1981 in Cemetery of Spring Grove, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, in the family lot owned by her mother.10
