President James Monroe was born on 28 April 1758 in Monroe's Creek, Westmoreland County, Virginia.1 He was the son of Spence Monroe and Elizabeth (Eliza) Jones.1 President James Monroe married Elizabeth Kortright on 16 February 1786 at Trinity E Church, New York City, New York.1 President James Monroe died on 4 July 1831 in New York City, New York, at age 73.1 He was buried at Hollywood Cementary, Virginia.1
James's father Spence Monroe died in 1774.1 President James Monroe became the father of Eliza Kortright Monroe on 5 December 1787.1 President James Monroe became the father of James Spence Monroe in May 1799.1 James's son James Spence Monroe died on 28 September 1800 in Richmond, Virginia.1 President James Monroe became the father of Maria Hester Monroe in 1803.1 James's daughter was married at wedding of Eliza Kortright Monroe and George Hay on 17 October 1808 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.1 Was elected in 1816 by 183 to 34 electoral votes over Rufus King. Was the first president to take the oath on a raised portico in front of the Capitol. The dissenter in the 1820 election thought only George Washington deserved to be unanimously elected. Was the third president to die on the Fourth of July.1 President James Monroe became President of the United States on 4 March 1817 replacing President James Madison. President James Monroe was over Vice President Daniel D. Tompkins as Vice President of the United States on 4 March 1817. James's daughter was married at wedding of Maria Hester Monroe and Samuel Laurence on 9 March 1820 in White House, Washington, DC.1
President James Monroe was replaced as President of the United States by President John Quincy Adams on 4 March 1825. President James Monroe became a widower with the death of his wife, Elizabeth Kortright on 23 September 1830 in Oak Hill, Loudoun County, Virginia, at age 62.1
