     George William Lewis was born on 11 June 1898 in Elgin, Union Co., Oregon.2 He married Aletha Elizabeth Powers, daughter of John Ransom Powers and Minnie May Selvester, on 26 March 1922 in North Bend, Coos Co., Oregon.2 He died on 24 August 1968 in Walla Walla, Walla Walla Co., Washington, at age 70.2 He was buried at Island City Cemetery in Island City, Union Co., Oregon.2
     He and his wife Aletha lived in several places, including Helmer and Deary in Latah Co., Idaho, Wallowa, Wallowa Co., Oregon, and La Grande, Union Co., Oregon.3
