     The following obituary appeared Long Island Advance published in Patchogue, New York 9 November 1978 :
MARIE MILLS JAMIESON, 89, a member of one of Long Island's oldest families and a longtime resident of Patchogue, died November 1 in Louisiana.
     Born in Patchogue, Mrs. Jamieson was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Mills. Her father was a partner in the Hammond-Mills store which once occupied the southeast corner of Patchogue's Four Corners.
     She resided in Patchogue until shortly after the death of her husband, William Harry Jamieson, in 1974, when she moved to the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mn. Robert Allen in River Ridge, La.
     Mrs. Jamieson was a direct descendant of Robert and Mary Hawkins, who came over from England in "The Elizabeth and Ann", the third ship to reach New England and landed at Charlestown. Mass.
     She was active for many years in the Colonel Josiah Smith Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was a 75-year member of the Congregational Church of Patchogue, and a member of Patchogue Sorosis.
     Her ancestors who assisted in establishing American independence were Alexander Harkins, born in South Setauket in 1713. and Isaac Mills, Jr., born in Smithtown in 1727.
     Survivors include a daughter, Louise Allen of River Ridge. La; three sons, David of Great Falls, Mont., William H., Jr., of Napa. Calif., and Robert of Shoreham; and a brother. Harry Mills of Centereach. Another daughter, Marjorie Moog, predeceased Mrs. Jamieson in 1965 .Also surviving are 12 grandchildren
