Canadian Military Service - WWI

Arthur John MacDonald of Springwater (near Biggar) was conscripted on 27 June 1918 at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, joining the 1sr Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. He was an unmarried farmer with no previous military experience. He was described as being 5' 9 1/2" with a ruddy complexion, blue eyes and medium hair. On his conscription papers he listed his next-of-kin as his uncle, Oswald Collings of New Perth, Prince Edward Island. He was assigned regimental number 3353629.1 Arthur John MacDonald ended military service as part of general demobilization on 4 August 1918 at Saskatchewan, Canada, when he was transferred to the Registrar's Records. This notation was used in reference to defaulters and deserters, but may also have indicated a tribunal had been unable to reach a decision, and forwarded the case to the Registrar. In this file, there are no clarifying comments. This probably occurred at Regina.
End of WWI Military Service section.1
