     He died on 6 April 1907 at Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 43.3 James McTavish was buried after 6 April 1907 at Saskatchewan, Canada. on the family homestead near Asquith.6 The cause of his death was given as of T.B. of the lung according to a medical history in his son's military file; or, in an accident according to the Asquith history.7 He was reburied at Eagle Creek Cemetery, RM of Eagle Creek No. 376, Saskatchewan, Canada.3

     In 1904, Hugh moved from Renfrew County, Ontario to Northwest Territories (Saskatchewan), Canada. He came west to join his son Alex near Hurdman Lodge (Environ) along with his children Racheal McTavish and Adam McTavish.8 Hugh McTavish was the informant on the death registration of his grandson, Hugh McTavish who died on 16 March 1904.9

     She died on 9 November 1942 in a local hospital at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 53.6

McNAB
     THE DEATH OF MRS. Rachel McNab, age 53, wife of A. J. McNab of Asquith, Sask., occurred on November 9 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 11, at 1 .30 p.m., from the farm home at Asquith. The Rev. Mr. Reid, United Church, Asquith, will officiate. Interment will be made in Asquith Cemetery. Surviving, besides her widower, are three daughters, Elsie, Agnes and Mary, at home, and two sons Donald, with the R.C.A.F. at Prince Rupert, and Glen, at home. McKagues Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.6



     The following obituary appeared Saskatoon StarPhoenix published in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 20 November 1942:
Mrs. A. J. McNab[:CR:]     ASQUITH.--The death occurred on Monday (actually Monday of the previous week) in the Saskatoon City Hospital, of Mrs. A. J. McNab, 53. Her maiden name was Rachel McTavish. She was born in Renfrew, Ont, and came West in 1903 to settle in the McTavish district. In 1920 (sic) she married A. J. McNab, their farm being six miles north of Asquith. The late Mrs. McNab had been in failing health for the past six years, but throughout continued to take an active interest in community affairs and contributed many donations of her work to the Red Cross and to the Asquith United Church.

She leaves her widower; two sons, Glenn, at home, Donald, who is serving with the R.C.A.F. at Langara Island, B.C.: three daughters, Agnes, attending the Technical Collegiate, Saskatoon, Elsie and Mary, at home; and a sister, Mrs. John Cowan.

The funeral service, held from the family residence, was conducted by Rev. R. W. Reid, pastor of the United Church, and was attended by a large number of friends, testifying to the high esteem in which Mrs, McNab was held. Pallbearers were William McTavish, J. D. McTavish, H. R. McNab, A. E. McNab, A. C. Burwell and Alex Burwell. Burial was made in the Asquith Cemetery.7



     In the obituary of Allan James McNab who died 28 March 1963, his wife Rachel, Mrs. McNab was listed as predeceased.10

     He died on 23 January 1946 at his home near Asquith at Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 66. Note that the Asquith history gives his year of death as 1945.1,2,4,7

     In 1904, William moved from from Ontario via Manitoba (about 1903) to Northwest Territories (Saskatchewan), Canada. He filed on his homestead at NE 14-37-10-W3 near Hurdman Lodge (Environ.)2

ASQUITH FARMER DEAD
W. J, McTavish. a pioneer of the Asquith district, died at his farm home seven miles from town Wednesday afternoon. Burial in charge of the Park Funeral Home, will take place in the family plot Monday.7

ASQUITH.--Many friends attended the funeral in the United Church here Monday of William J. McTavish, pioneer of the district since 1904, whose homestead and farmhome is located seven miles north west of town. Burial was in Eagle Creek cemetery, the mourners travelling the 11 miles over enow-drifted roads by sleigh. Rev. A. Cross officiated. Pallbearers were J. D. McTavish, Allan McNab, Peter McTavish, Walter Rice, Donald McTavish and Sam Lake. Sixty-six years old, Mr. McTavish died suddenly at his home Wednesday of a heart attack. Ha had been 111 for some time. He was an active worker in the affairs of the community and was for many years a director of the district telephone company. He was born on a farm near Perth, Ont. He is survived by hie widow, the former Rachel McTavish, four sons and one daughter, Peter, Hugh. Helen, Robert and Stuart. Robert recently returned from overseas after serving in Africa, Italy, Belgium and Holland. Peter, who had been visiting relatives In the Perth district, and Helen, who had been nursing in Toronto, came home for the funeral.8
