     The following selected information is extracted from her obituary. Survivor(s): Frank McMurchy, Eva Clegg and Charles McMurchy. Predeceased: Dan McMurchy, Jessie E McMurchy and Nicholas Raymond.3 She died on 14 December 1943 in DeKalb Public Hospital (Glidden Memorial Hospital), DeKalb, Illinois, USA, at age 89.5,3 Laura Jane Raymond was buried on 17 December 1943 in South Grove Cemetery, South Grove Twp., DeKalb County, Illinois, USA.5,3
     Her name was also recorded as Laura Jennie Raymond.5 She was mother of the bridegroom at the marriage of Frank A McMurchy and Ada Sauer on 6 June 1923 in Ogle County, Illinois, USA.9,10,11,12,13,14
     Mrs Dan McMurchy was referenced in a newspaper article about Walter Renwick and Mary Renwick on 11 September 1923 in the newspaper the Daily Chronicle.15
     Laura Jane Raymond, his surviving wife, was referenced, but not by name, in the obituary of Daniel H McMurchy who died 15 May 1929.16,17
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Daily Chronicle published in DeKalb, Illinois 15 December 1943:
Mrs. McMurchy Dies Tuesday at Hospital
Mrs. Laura J. McMurchy, age 89, a resident of the South Grove community the greater part of her life, passed away last evening at the Glidden Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for two days.

Mrs. McMurchy would have been 90 years of age on February 6 of next year and had been making her home with a son, Charles McMurchy, of South Grove. She was born February 6, 1854 in Kingston Township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Raymond. She was married to Dan McMurchy in 1878, her husband preceding her in death several years ago.

Surviving to mourn the death are three children, Frank McMurchy of DeKalb, Mrs. Eva Clegg of Chicago and Charles McMurchy. One daughter also preceded her mother in death.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon from the Wirtz Funeral home and interment will be in the South Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from Thursday evening until the time of the service.3



     In the obituary of Charles McMurchy who died 27 February 1959, Charles's mother, Laura McMurchy was listed as predeceased.18 She was identified as the mother of Evelyn J. Clegg in Evelyn's obituary after her death on 10 October 1976.19
