The following article appeared in the Bowmanville, Ontario The Canadian Statesman, 23 August 1944 :
Soldiers' Letters
Trooper Jack Trimm, B-134754, No. 2 C.A.C.R.U., England writes to his sister, Mrs. David Park, August 6, as follows:
Dear Helen and Dave:
Sunday evening and I am just back from week-end leave. I am still at No. 2. C.A.C.R.U. (Canadian Armoured Corps Reinforcement Unit) area driving tanks around and it is just as dusty as ever. But am sleeping in a shack and have a bed instead of the ground as I had before they made me an instructor. There are only two of us left here from the whole Troop that came from No. 1. Met a lad here from Bowmanville named Brooks and he gets The Statesman sent to him every week so I got to read last week.

As I write one of the fellows is making soup in his mess tin. Made a fire in the stove and one of the fellows had a package of noodle soup received in a parcel from home. It smells good and we'll soon see how it tastes. It is certainly wonderful to know aunt Mary and uncle Henry Perkins have been married 68 years. There is little news around here. We still see the odd flying bomb go over but not often.

The boys in France and Italy are sure doing a wonderful job. We had a little mishap the other day, bringing some tanks down from camp, when the track broke on one and it went through a private home killing one and injuring two. Have had little mail lately as the mailman took a holiday. That's all for now, from Jack
P.S. -- The soup was sure good. J.12

The following article appeared in the Bowmanville, Ontario The Canadian Statesman, 28 February 1946 :
Cards of Thanks
Tpr. Jack Trimm wishes to thank all whose ho remembered him while he was overseas, and a special thanks to the good people of Tyrone Community

and also:
Tpr. Jack Trimm who recently returned from overseas spent a few days with his sister, Mrs. David Park, before reporting to London.9,10
