Hannah Beaman and Sinmon Beaman moved to to Deerfield, Massachusetts, where he became a garrison soldier and she the school dame. Both were captured by the French and Indians in 1704 and taken to Canada, but they returned. in 1683.1 She left a will in 1723 in which she bequeathed her lands for the benefit of the schools of Deerfield, the first instance of the kind in that part of Massachusetts.

Joseph Barnard married Sarah Strong, daughter of Elder John Strong, on 13 January 1675.1 Joseph Barnard died on 18 September 1695 in Deerfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts, at age ~54. He had been mortally wounded by Indians at Indian Bridge on 18 August 1695.1 He was buried in Old Burying Grounds, Deerfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. His gravestone bears the oldest date of any in the cemetery. [Grave No. 227] The oldest stone (1695), that of the town clerk, Joseph Barnard, is near the western wall.
