Since most people were illiterate in this time it is surprising that this will exists in Thomas's hand at all. Importantly, he mentions his purchase of land in the nearby parish of Hatton which he then bequeathed to his eldest son John Eaton.4 Thomas's will was proved on on 6 July 1571.4 His estate was probated on 6 July 1571. He was buried as "Old Goodman Eaton." In his will, executed on 5 July, 22 Charles [1] [1646] and proved on 29 Sept. 1646, John Eaton of Rowington, yeoman, mentioned grandchild John Wherritt and John Wherritt's sister Elizabeth Wherrit, now wife Margery Eaton, George Smart, Richard Smart, and the 5 children of Jobe Wherritt, Mossias Smart "if hee com to Rowington with in 4 years after the date of this will," poor of Rowington and Claverdon. Executrix: wife Margery, and she to recieve residue; supervisors: Thomas Tybbatts Sr, John Mylborne, and Thomas Pettite. (Consistory Court of Worcester, 1646, No. 26.) His wife Margery left a will probated 10 April 1660 and proved 1 April 1664; the only Eaton mentioned is "Widdow Eaton late wife of Thomas Eaton of Hatton" (Consistory Court of Worcester, 1664).

John Eaton died between 4 January 1547 and 22 November 1548 in Rowington, Warwickshire, England.1,2 His estate was probated on 22 November 1548. An abstract of his will follows (Consistory Court of Worcester, Will Registery, Volume:243): John Eton of Rowyington, being somewhat sick in body.
To be buried in churchyard of Rowyington.
To the high alter of the church there 20d. and a towel or else 20d. and 20s. to make a new "yle" in the same church "so that yt be begon to be made within 7 yeres nexte after my deceasse."
To the poor people on the day of testator's burial or shortly thereafter, 26s. 8d.
