Eulalia Bolieau Tozer passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30th at the age of 89. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Frank C. Tozer of Felton.
Eulie was born November 13, 1924 in Long Beach, CA but spent her school years in Coalinga, CA where she graduated from Coalinga High in 1942. The following year she became engaged to a high school classmate, William F. Honsal and they married shortly thereafter. Bill was trained as a B-24 pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp and in 1945 deployed to the Pacific theater. Tragically, Bill was killed in action on April 8, 1945, leaving behind Eulie and their son, William Honsal II.
After the war, Eulie married another B-24 pilot, Robert D. Houghton and soon after they settled in Scotts Valley and completed their family with the addition of sons Drew and Downey Houghton. Eulie's life circumstances changed in 1964 when her marriage ended and she entered the workforce. She began at R.J. Reynolds & Co. and later worked for the Santa Cruz Probation Dept until her retirement in 1986.
In 1969, Eulie married Frank Tozer and they settled in Felton. Frank also loved to fly and together they enjoyed many flying trips throughout the northwest, Canada and Mexico. Eulie's health began to change with MS-like symptoms which limited her mobility, a condition that confined her to a wheelchair for her last 20 years.
Eulie never lost her love for the beach and ocean as she enjoyed many days on the 4th Ave beach picnicking with family and friends. She was also an avid Giants fan, rarely missing a game on TV. But her love of the beauty of their Felton property brought her the greatest joy with the orchard and flowers tended by Frank.
Eulie leaves behind her three devoted sons, Bill Honsal (Kathi) of Fortuna, CA, Drew Houghton (Kathy) of Sacramento, and Downey Houghton (Karen) of Soquel as well as 6 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Driftwood HealthCare in Santa Cruz for their kindness and care during Eulie's stay. A memorial will be held on May 10th at 1:00 pm at the Felton Presbyterian Church.
