Elaine Houghton-Parsons

Memorial service for Elaine Marie Houghton-Parsons, 48, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Payson, Ariz.

Ms. Houghton-Parsons, a former longtime resident of Spokane, died Sept. 20 in Atascadero, her home for two years. She was born in the Republic of Panama.

She graduated from North Central High School in 1973 and served eight years in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War.

She received a degree in business management and pursued a degree in fine arts and bookmaking.

Ms. Houghton-Parsons worked in the finance department of Digital Equipment Corp. for many years and then for the Seattle Times until 1999.

She was a member of the Cottage Lake and Community Presbyterian Church USA, Hope Christian Church and the Christian Church of Atascadero.

Her hobbies included block printing, bookmaking and book arts.

Survivors include her mother, Maria de Jesus de Rodriguez of Chepo, Panama; two sisters, LaRaine Wilson and Coreen Houghton; and a brother, William Houghton.^1,3
