Herbert Horton: earliest known ancestor is Eliza Horton my ggggrandmother who appears on the 1850 census Twiggs Co. Georgia. She appears as the head of household with my gggrandfather Issac J. Horton born @ 1833 and the rest of her children. Several Horton families appear in Georgia after Rev. War in Hancock and Washington county area of Georgia. When first formed Washington county was designated for veterans but later opened to anyone. We thought most of them probably originated in the area of the Carolinas. Have tried to establish connection to a Thomas Horton (Haughton) born @ 1645 or a William Horton (Haughton) born @ 1645 they were in the areas of Chowan and Bertie counties of North Carolina. We have been unable to connect back to the Carolinas. As of now we have no documentation to establish this to be our lines.
