Biography

I am considered a competent genealogist, but I am hardly into the computer age of genealogy. I worked at the Vermont Historical Society Library from 1971 until I was "riffed", oh, 1990. I did not go back until the library had been moved to Barre, a few years ago, but now, at age 74, I man the reference desk at the library one afternoon a week (with the two librarians on the premises, trying to get their other work done), and am considered very helpful. I have a BA but not a MLS. The only thing I have had published is a series of three articles in Vermont Genealogy, 2:2, 2:3 and 3:3, 1997-1998: "Patty (Hurd)(Galpin)(Chamberlin)Elkins of Peacham and North Troy, Vermont." I had a great deal of help from Robert Rodgers, the editor at that time, but it was a great deal of fun. So far no researcher has challenged any of several conclusions that I would be the first to admit are a little shaky.¹
