Mrs. Roy Houghton

Funeral services for Mrs. Roy Houghton, 50, who died suddenly Thursday, Nov. 14, in her home in Detroit, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Wood Funeral Home in Detroit. Rev. Owen Geer, pastor of the Mount Olivet Methodist Church, where Mrs. Houghton was a member, officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Bessie McColl was born in Detroit and was united in marriage with Roy Houghton in March, 1914, and they have lived in Detroit since that time. Her father passed away Oct. 14, just one month before his daughter.

Mrs. Houghton was a faithful and willing worker in Mount Olivet Church and in Highland Park Community Club as well as many organizations which are for the good of the community. A 15 minute talk was given over CKLW Monday morning by Miss Abbott, in honor of Mrs. Houghton, her personal friend.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters and a son, Miss Jean and Donald, at home, and Mrs. R. J. DeRemer of Detroit, and a brother, Russell McColl, also of Detroit.

Mrs. Harriet Dodge, Mrs. Grace Collins and Mrs. A. N. Bigelow from Cass City attended the funeral.¹

Audley E. Homer, a former Cass City area resident, retired Dec. 31 after 22 years at Pontiac Motors in Pontiac.
He was born in Novesta township and lived in the area many years before moving to Highland, where he and his wife presently reside.
He married the former Charlotte Warner in Cass City.
They have six children and 16 grandchildren.
He was employed in the tool room at Pontiac Motors.
The Horners plan to travel and expect to visit one daughter who lives in Georgia.

Audley E Horner, 85, of Shelbyville, TN, formerly of Cass City, MI died Saturday October 18, 1997 in his home. He was born December 25, 1911 in Deford, MI to Robert F and Ella C (Lewis) Horner. He married Charlotte E Warner January 1, 1938 in Cass City. Audley worked for Pontiac Motors as a toolmaker retiring after 25 years. He lived in the Highland-Milford area for over 14 years. Audley was a member of Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City, MI and Franklin Christian Church, Franklin, TN. He was an Elder at Novest Church of Christ. He dedicated his life to his family and his church. Audley is survived by his wife, Charlotte, children: Marilyn Lee (Duane) Lester of Mt Vernon, WA, Charlotte "Ann" Agemy of Rochester Hills, Louis (Janice) Horner of Cass City, Catherine (Patrick) Hayes of Shelbyville, TN, Geraldine "Geri" (Gary) Suzor of Cass city, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one more expected soon; brother Lewis Horner of Essexville, sisters; Miriam Rickwalt, and Maxine Graham both of Caro, son-in-law, William Barnfather; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta Jean Barnfather; brothers Romney Horner, who died in France during WWII, and Keith Horner; sister, Edna Wethers. Funeral services held 11:00AM Tuesday October 21, 1997 in Novesa Church of Christ, Cass City, MI with Chuck Emmert officiating. Memorials may be made to Novesta Church of Christ, the Great Lakes Bible College or Highland Hospice. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery, Cass City MI.

Audley Horner

Injuries Fatal to Dorus Remington

Dorus Remington, 39, of Flint, whose wife was the former Juanita Warner of Cass City, died Saturday night in Hurley Hospital, as the result of injuries sustained while at work Nov. 1.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a. m. in St. Paul's Trinity Episcopal Church in Flint and burial was made there.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Remington of Columbia Township and was graduated from Caro High School.

Surviving besides his wife and parents, are two daughters, Judy, 15, and Beth, 13 years old; a brother, Newell Remington of Bay City; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Goodall of Cass City, Mrs. Alan McGeorge of Boyne City and Wanda at home with her parents, and his aged grandmother, Mr. Lena Hare of Flint.¹
