IMrs. Houghton, Welfare Aide. in Ventura, Dies Mrs. Delores Elaine Hough ton, 47, widow of Salvation Arny Capt. Sidney Houghton, died yesterday at Ventura hospital. Mrs. Houghton had been working in the Ventura County welfare office. Before the death of her husband 17 months ago, she was a Salvation Armv officer. The two served in Salvation Army units in Ventura, Huntington Park and Los Angeles. He was commanding officer of Congress Hal Corps from 1951l to 1954. Inglewood Park Cemetery. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Delores Eaton; her mother, Mrs. Maude Buchanan, and three grandchildren.

Obituary

Wesley W. Houghton, 68, of R. 4, Potter Road, Traverse City, passed away Sunday afternoon at Munson Medical Center after a long illness. Mr. Houghton was born at Kingsley, May 29, 1905, to William and Etta Houghton. On Nov. 3, 1930, he was married to the former Clara E. Chandler. He was employed by the Briggs Body plant in Detroit for many years and in 1945 he moved to Traverse City where he worked at the Parsons Corp. until it closed. Surviving in addition to the widow, Clara, of R. 3, Traverse City, are one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Mary) Muehling of R. 4, Traverse City; four grandchildren, Debra, Walt, Gerald and Daniel; one brother, Earl Houghton of Kingsley; two sisters, mrs. Margaret Sisson of Cadillac and Mrs. Samuel (Claudia) Cronkhite also of Cadillac; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Calvin and Frank Houghton. Funerals ervices will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. The Rev. Charles B. Echols of the Church of God, Traverse City, will officiate and interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City.
Wesley was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City.

Occupation

an employee of the Briggs Body Plant in Detroit, MI, for many years. In 1945 he moved to Traverse City where he worked at the Parsons Corp. until it closed.⁴
