Mildred Violet Cox, 89 of Conroe, TX passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 in Spring, Texas with her family at her side. She was born April 11, 1923 in Sanish, ND to Samuel and Mary (Clausen) Uran and grew up in New Town, ND. While living and working in Bremerton, WA as a school teacher, she met and married Benjamin Franklin Cox of Bixby, OK. Mildred was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an accomplished musician having played the piano since the age of 4. She was an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church in The Woodlands, TX. She enjoyed being outside using her green thumb gardening, being in the kitchen cooking, playing the piano and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She served on the water board for M.U.D. 15 as an officer and historian for many years. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 40 years Benjamin F. Cox, 2 sisters, Ida and Agnes and 3 brothers, Maynard, Robert and Leo. She is survived by her sister Helen Erickson of Grants Pass, OR and Dale Uran of New Town, ND, daughters Sandra Moon of Conroe, TX (and Stephen Bigalow) and Brynn Cox of Tucson, AZ (and Lynn Forest); grandchildren, Melissa Hammack (and husband Patrick) and Matt Lamirand (and Tobie Sieler); and great grandchildren Macey, Avery, Ben and Zach. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM til 8:00 PM Friday, January 11, 2013, at Bixby Funeral Service in Bixby, OK. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, January 12, 2013, in Bixby Cemetery in Bixby, OK, with Minister Patrick Hammack officiating. A memorial for Mildred will be planned in Conroe, TX at a later date. In lieu of traditional remembrances, memorials may be made in the name of Mildred Cox to Hannah's Hope Orphanage, P. O. Box 660, Odem, TX 78370.
