"Our grandfather John B morgan died of kidney problems when our Dad was around 11.

We were told that JB was a Mid Wife who help bring a lot of children into the world. Plus he helped a lot of people out while sick. He went all over to help people. He Never ate anything He said it was bad for you. I was told that even coffee he drank cold. He was a vivid reader, he had lots of Books and read alot. He owned a Jewelry Store & Pawn Shop. Plus a Photo Shop. He was Post Master General in 1899 in Hawkins Tn. for Three Years. Its a shame we never knew him. He seemed like a very nice man from what I was told."⁴

Hawkins Co., TN, USA, At the time of his death, James Morgan was a candidate for the office of Circuit Court Clerk of Hawkins Co., TN. He died during the flu epidemic of 1918. According to a letter from his father there were 3 or 4 hundred people at the "berrying". He died about 8 or 10 days before the election, but at the election he received about 4000 votes.¹
