Notes for Jesse HINSON
That this Jesse HINSON is the son of James HINSON of Dobbs and Robeson Co., NC and the older brother of Joshua Hinson is well-supported by literature 472 but IS NOT Proven by primary documents.

Jesse was born between 1775 and 1778. This calculated by the intersection of ages in the census’ of 1800, 1810 and 1830 which puts his birth year as between 1775 and 1789 coupled with the fact that he witnessed and proved the sale of land to his father, James, in 1796. So he was 18 or older in 1796 which infers his birth in or before 1778.
All of this leads to Jessee being born between 1775 and 1778. His birthplace was probably Olde Dobbs Co., NC wherein his father, James, purchased land in Dobbs Co., NC between 1767 and 1791.

1796 - Jesse proved and witnessed sale of land in Robeson Co., from Joel Dawson to James Hinson, See Deed Book G, p. 80-83. So he must have been at least 18 in 1796 which infers birth year in or before 1778.

1800 - Jesse purchased land in Robeson Co. from William Ashley. See Deed Book K, p. 128-129

1800 - res Fayetteville, Robeson Co., NC as head of household, age 16-25 with 1 male under 10 (possibly John b. ca 1799) and 1 female age 16-25, probably Jesse’s wife. 1409

1801 - Jesse witnessed sale of land in Robeson Co. from William Ashley to Joshua Hinson. See deed Book K, p. 80-81

1801 - Jesse purchased land in Robeson Co. from Absolom Williams. See Deed Book M, p. 192-193

1801 - Jesse purchased 150 acres of land in Robeson Co. from William Ashley. See Deed Book M, p. 194-195

1810 - res Robeson Co., NC as head of household, age 26-44 (probably age 26-35 from 1800 census) with 2 males under 10 (possibly Jordan b. ca 1804) and Elliott b. ca 1810), 1 male age 10-15 (possibly John b. ca 1799), 2 females under 10, and 1 female age 26-44 (probably age 26-35 from 1800 census)1270

1819 - Jesse 240 acres of land in Robeson Co. from Benjaminm Jinkins. See Deed Book S, p. 101-102

1820 - There is no census record for this Jesse Hinson in North Carolina for 1820. There is a Jessee Hinson recorded in Lenoir Co., NC in the 1820 census but that Jessee Hinson was also recorded in Lenoir Co. in 1810 when this Jesse was recorded in Robeson Co. so the Jessee Hinson in 1820 Lenoir Co. cannot be this Jesse Hinson in 1820

1824 - Jesse sold his father, James’) land in Robeson Co. to Jesse’s son John Hinson. See Deed Book CC, p. 210-211

1830 - res Columbus Co., NC as head of household age 50-59 (probably 50-55 from previous census) with 1 male under 5, 2 males age 5-9, 1 male age 10-14, 1 female under 5, 1 female age 10-14, 1 female age 15-19, and 1 female 30-39, probably Jesse’s wife. But note that his wife aged 26-35 in 1810 census would be 56-65 in this 1830 census; yet the oldest female, probably his wife, is age 30-39. This would indicate a second wife, married between 1810 and 1830. 1410

1833 - Jesse sold land in Columbus Co., NC to Iahom Sales. See Deed Book M, p.25

1840 - There is no census record for this Jesse Hinson after 1830 suggesting that he may have died between 1830-1840
