Enoch Avery was an enlisted man in the Westchester County Militia, serving in the 4th Regiment under Col. Thaddeus Crane.
1162 Enoch was probably commissioned as a Colonel in the Militia after the Revolutionary War.

Daughters of Enoch(1) Avery (1744-1832)
I’m trying to firm up my understanding of Enoch(1) Avery’s (1744-1832) daughters. The 1790 census shows Enoch(1) with 3 males and 7 females in his household.
I figure the three males are Enoch(1) himself and his sons Elisha(2) and Stephen. His other son, William, is probably the William Avery who shows up in the 1790 census in Salem, Westchester Co., NY with only one other person in the household, a female. I’m positive that this couple is William Avery who married Ruth Peatt on 28 July 1789.
But the seven remaining females in Enoch(1)’s household remain a little hard to figure, given the variation in names. Obviously, one is Dorcas, his wife, and the other six are his daughters.
In the marriage records of the South Salem Church of Westchester Co., NY, I found:
21 Feb 1787 - Sarah Avery & Daniel Wood - But this Sarah is probably the daughter of Enoch’s brother Ebeneezer Avery.
So Enoch(1) had a total of six daughters in 1790 but his 5 July 1830 will names only five plus the daughter of Abigail, his wife.. This suggests that one or more of the 1790 daughters had died or was estranged before 1830. The will names:
1 - Mary, who married David Chapman
2 - Rheuhanah (I agree with you, I still wonder about spelling) who married Nathaniel Sniffin
3 - Susanna who married John Williams
4 - Sarah who married Henry Peatt
5 - Nancy who married Enos Mead
Frances Duncombe in her “History of Katonah” names two other daughters:
> - Sally who married John Piatt
> - Ruth who married John Harford
The South Salem Church Records also document the marriage:
2 Apr 1792 - Polly Avery & David Chapman
So “Mary” Avery and “Polly” are probably the same person.
The 1850 census for Poundridge shows Henry Peatt (b. 1785) married to “Sally”.
A Headstone in the Col Enoch Avery Cemetery: “Sarah, wife of Henry Peatt died October 21, 1860 in her 77th year.
So it appears that Sarah Avery had a nickname “Sally”.
As well as a sister “Sally”
A Headstone in the Col Enoch Avery Cemetery: “Phebe, wife of John Peatt died April 8, 1843 age 51 yrs, 5 mo, 11 days.
So Sally Avery had a nickname “Phebe”, perhaps to distinguish Sally from her sister Sarah who had the nickname “Sally”.
At this point, the six daughters of Enoch(1) Avery in 1790 appear to be from the seven listed below: (perhaps one more daughter was born after 1790)
1 - Mary (Polly), who married David Chapman
2 - Rheuhanah (I still wonder about spelling) who married Nathaniel Sniffin
3 - Susanna who married John Williams
4 - Sarah (Sally) who married Henry Peatt
5 - Nancy who married Enos Mead
6 - Sally (Phebe) who married John Piatt
7 - Ruth who married John Harford
So we have a Henry Peatt/Piatt who married “Sarah” Avery aka “Sally”
And a John Peatt/Piatt who married “Sally” Avery aka “Phebe”
