In Colorado Springs, George managed his father’s estate, was elected a Colorado College trustee, read papers at the Phoenix Society on how to ripen tomatoes, and lent his distinguished name to the Board of Directors of mining companies. He platted a subdivision called Lihue, the name of a Sandwich Island town where his wife was born.
