Appointed to the Council of Virginia December 1656-1660. The position of Councilor was second in power and prestige only to that of Governor. Councilors also constituted the Quarter Court, equivalent to the Supreme Court.
Walker had thousands of acres of land holdings including a thousand-acre lot granted 12 October 1660 adjoining that of Col. Richard Lee, Esq. 753
