330Note that the book "Lee of Virginia" by Edmund Jennings Lee, MD, has a paragraph on page 542 concerning another Major John Lee. The records of the two Major John Lees are quite similar but there is one difference. The John Lee in the book "Lee of Virginia" was appointed Captain, 2nd State Regiment in 1777 while this John Lee was a Captain in the 1st VA State Regiment and was not assigned to the 2nd VA State Regiment until 1779.
