There were no Snelson's listed in 1901. In 1914-15 Joseph is shown in the Register of Electors in the Parish of Chesterton, North Ward Division 1 at 7 Victoria Park.

He was obviously proud of his roots, as he called his house on Castle Street "Barnston". In his will he left L777 16s 6d and named the executors as Briscoe George Alsop Snelson, pawnbroker's manager, and Sydney Harry Steward, motor mechanic. [:CR:].
